What is the IRP
In 2000, following consultation with interpreters, deaf organisations and other stakeholders, CACDP’s registration system was revised and the Independent Registration Panel (IRP) was set up.
The IRP administers the register of BSL/English Interpreters and approves applications for entry into the register. It is made up of members who are from the following groups:

CACDP has one representative on the IRP. There are also two co-opted members.
The work of the IRP includes:
• Setting the criteria for entry for each category of Interpreter
• Approving new training
courses
